The Beginning

I have started a blog! I thought I was too busy to do one, and I may still be so I may not keep it updated, but I am starting one. Mainly just to talk about my daughter's progress, but occasionaly to rant about a certain husband of mine, or even some of my family LOL I'm still deciding if I'm going to let my family have this blog address or keep it private for my virtual mommy friends. Probably option number 2. We'll see.

OK first off, my name is Melissa, I'm 21, full time Mommy, full time wife, and full time college student. Probably some other things, like counselor to my cousins, sometimes a baby sitter, but I'll think of what else I am later.

I've been married to JD since December 2005, yes I got married when I was 18...woah! No...I was not pregnant when we got married! We were just madly in love and decided to spend the rest of our lives together. No big church wedding, and no Vegas style either. We just went to the court house and let the judge do it LOL, only people that were there (besides us and the judge, duh!) were my parents, his dad, my adopted sister, and my old neighbor and her son. Short and sweet. No dress up, no rice, just a couple of rings and a piece of paper that binds us together FOREVER! We had a reception/bridal shower about a month later and we got the usual, a ton of towels and cook ware. One of the funniest gifts we got was a bag full of baby items, apparently sweet Mrs.Jenny got the wrong message by us getting married and me being "so young", she had to leave before we got to her gift so of course everyone that stayed got a good laugh out of it, but little did we know that about 1 month later I would find out I was indeed pregnant.

We found out on Valentine's Day 2006 that we were expecting, although we were not expecting that kind of news. We weren't planning on getting pregnant anytime soon, but we also weren't exactly preventing it either. The pregnancy was filled with ups and downs, I won't get into them right now, because I don't feel like crying my eyes out right now. But I will give you the short story, I almost had a miscarriage at 5weeks 4days, I almost lost my Nanny (grandma on dad's side) at around 11 weeks, almost had another miscarriage at 12 weeks due to the stress of Nanny being in the hospital, my Mawmaw & Pawpaw's house burned down when I was 23 weeks, Pawpaw got severely burned because he fell inside when it was on fire, he stayed in UAB burn unit for 2 months, then got transferred to RMC's long term health center. He stayed there until after I had Anna, but sadly he died the day Anna turned 7 weeks old. I had severe morning sickness from about 6-7 weeks along all the way to 24 weeks 2 days, and I don't mean just nausea, I mean full blown puking every single day, sometimes 3 and 4 times a day, but no less than 2 every day...that was hell! Then almost like a switch was turned off, at 24 weeks 2 days, I never threw up again during the pregnancy, well until I got food poisining, but that doesn't count.

I also started having blood pressure problems around 29 weeks, and by 33 weeks I was going to the hospital twice a week for non stress tests. They usually just monitered me for about 30 minutes to an hour, then I would go for my doctor's appointment with Dr.Young once a week. Well at 36 weeks 6 days, I woke up when JD got home from work at about 6am and I was really swollen, but I had never swollen before other than my fingers. So we call the maternity ward, and they tell us to come on in, well I checked my BP before we left, I had already bought one of those home electronic ones, and my BP was 167/124...so yeah I figured go in, they'll monitor us and send us home...NOPE! Dr.Young came in at about 7:30am and started talking about the risks and benefits of induction, I was expecting him to say like the next day or even the next week, but then when I asked him when, he said today, like now. I was scared, excited, and nervous all at the same time. So at about 8am he came in and broke my water, and then started the pitocin, then they started my epidural. I didn't really have an option because they didn't want my BP to go any higher. I don't remember a whole lot about the labor, other than part of it was reaaallllly painful. I do remember who all was there though. JD, Momma, Daddy, JD's Dad, Mallory, Aunt Penny, Meagan, Paige, Kim, Austin, Jessie, Mawmaw & Aunt Susan. Dr.Young told me around noon that I was having her by 10pm no matter what. He said if I didn't have her by 9pm he was scheduling a csection no later than 10pm that night. Well needless to say, I started pushing around 8:30pm and I had her at exactly 8:45pm.

So Anna Alexa Payne arrived on October 3, 2006 at 8:45pm, she was 4lbs 12oz and 19 inches long. She was so tiny, but very healthy.

I will update on her later, because my sister in law is on the phone right now and I doubt she's gonna be done talking anytime soon LOL.

So there's my first blog. Hope it wasn't too boring for you, I should post more by tomorrow night.
