Ok so this was made last week, Anna was 19 months old and out of no where she picked up some of her wooden blocks and named every number on them, she knows her numbers. She even knows the difference in a 9 and a 6 if you use the same block and just flip it upside down. She continues to amaze me with every passing day and it seems like every single day she learns a new word or phrase.
Unfortunately, it seems she has hit the terrible 2's 4 months early. She pitched her first fit in the middle of Walmart on Sunday when I picked her up from my mom's house after spending 3 nights with her. I don't know if she was trying to show out because I left her with her Mawmaw for that long, but she cried when we left because she didn't want to leave my mom LOL. It was heartbreaking, but she got over it for a little while and then we went to walmart and she was fine for a little while. But then she decided she wanted out of the buggy right then and there. She stood up wiggling out of her seatbelt, and jumped into my arms, I put her down and she takes off running. I caught her and headed back to the buggy, well she wasn't having any part of that and she threw herself on the floor screaming. I picked her up and tried to put her back in the buggy, she kicked and screamed some more. Finally I put her in the buggy and she sat still just long enough for me to get the seatbelt on and tightened on her enough so she couldn't climb out again and we went to finish our shopping and got out of there. Now I understand why some moms don't fight with their toddlers pitching fits in public, because I swear everyone was looking at me like I had beat her in the middle of the aisle because of the way she was crying and screaming. Some one please tell me it doesn't get worse than this. How can my sweet innocent little baby girl, turn into such a little demon in the middle of walmart. And it didn't end there either, she's been that way here at home too, if she wants to go outside or stat outside and we try to make her come in, she'll throw herself on the floor and scream. Luckily our neighbors all understand and try to help me wrangle her while we're out there, there are too many stairs in this apartment complex and she loves to climb. We usually block her off from each stair opening and let her run between us. Sometimes it works but other times the temper tantrums kick in.
Speaking of these "wonderful" apartments... as some of you know we live on campus in "family housing", the only family housing available to college students on campus. Well being family housing, you would think it would be kid friendly and at least have a playground or something for them to play on. Nope, nothing but a parking lot, concrete balconies, and glass field grassy areas. Well I inquired about getting a play structure for the kids to play on, and this is the response I got back from the head honcho at university housing.
Dear Melissa,
Thank you for your suggestions to the Jax Apartment area. The Department of University Housing and Residence Life has previously investigated supplying Jax Apartments with a playground. Due to safety and liability reasons we are not able to do so at this time. However, the apartment area staff is currently brainstorming on some community building ideas that we can
hopefully implement in the fall. Please feel free to suggest some ideas to help us in our efforts.
I also apologize for your husband having to pick up broken glass. It appears that our staff could not retrieve all of the smaller pieces of glass. I have contacted the maintenance department in order to rectify this situation.
Again, thank you for your concerns and suggestions. If you have any more questions or concerns please contact me via e-mail or phone.
Sincerely,
Andrea Pruitt
ok so this kinda pissed me off because they say it's a liability issue, but yet our kids are playing in the parking lot because they have no where else to play. Isn't that some what of a liability? I mean people come flying in this parking lot because it's at the end of the street and we have a big circle to drive through so they turn around in here. Well all it's going to take is for one kid to get ran over and injured or even killed and then JSU will sure as hell be wishing they provided a playground for these kids. I will never let Anna play out there by herself, but some of the other people in this complex allow their kids as young as 14 months out there alone, unsupervised, unless you count the 3 year old sister watching her. This really scares me because they always play in the middle of the road and it's just going to take one person not to see them and they could be gone forever.

Yep, Mady throws fits. When we are at home I either ignore her or I will go put her in her crib and tell her that when she can be nice again, mommy will come get here. Just stick to what you are doing.
